True Calling by Siobhan Davis is about a 17 year old Cadet Ariana Skye. Away from what used to be home "earth", Ariana's now new home, a planet nestled high above the earths atmosphere, 1200 miles to be exact, is a new home planet Novo. Planet Novo is made to look like, appear and seem like earth so the inhabitants would not expect anything. This as well as to help use their transition into plant Novo, as smoothly as possible.

Something strange is going on, and the government is leading up the rear of this strange parade. The chosen ones go to planet Novo which are selected from remaining citizens on earth under the age of 45, the rest are left as earth becomes a more a less inhabitable planet and less viable.

The transferees to Novo are all fixed with a device that is inserted into them, this is the governments way of keeping tabs on its citizens of its new planet. Their is more to this device than keeping track of the citizens of Novo and their whereabouts ...... It monitors their overall health and activities, their overall wellbeing. This advanced device is called Vito.

Protagonist, Ariana, catches on quite quickly that something isn't right, confused by the  government - sanctioned memory erase and why it's happening. What is the government trying to hide, why do they want the citizens to forget and have no memory?

As if wiping your memory and chipping you were like part of some heard, the government is also forcing all 17 year olds to participate or take apart of what they like to call "The Calling Pageant". It breaks down to arrange a male and a female, have them wed and help to start to populate the planet. As if they were like a heard and being passed through to do one thing.

For Aria beyond knowing none of this isn't right, being forced into marriage, the looming fact she would soon be a teenager mother unless she figures it all out what there up to. To top it off she cannot shake off a nightmare she is having or is it? Could it be a suppressed memory trying to resurface. All she knows whatever they are these nightmares, dreams, or suppressed memories, it's someone she may have left back at earth, not that she was given a choice, whoever it is. All she knows whom ever it is or who ever must be from earth, but can't remember them, but why? And who are they? Is she missing something very significant?

You will have to read  to find out more. If you like Sci-if dystopian novels, throw in a love triangle to heat things up. Two boys but which one has true intentions, and wants to do the best for Ariana?

A debut novel by Siobhan Davis, not only did accomplish a successful sci-if novel first time, but she made sure the readers were never bored. With full descriptions, twist and turns, government conspiracy. I only wonder what the second has in store. My only hope the pace picks up a little faster in the beginning of book two, book one started a little slow. There are other books yes you can say it's like this or that one, but if your a fan of any sci-if books, sci-fi dystopian novels there are many times you are reminded of another story. It takes a successful author to weave a planetary new tale, that is different enough from the rest, you enjoy it, that you can say it's different , it stands alone. You look forward to the second book? Want to know what happens next? Just have to wait and see?

For me The first book has caught my attention and I look forward to the second book myself. For me true calling is a Sci-Fi book I would recommended. It's a book you want to have in your sci-if collection. It's a book that leaves you excited for the sequel because, well hell, it has everything' you're looking for In a good compelling story.
